A dedicated teaching room for the FTA has been prepared for the Soilmec Open House 2017. This new facility provides a modern learning space for all the students of the academy. The classroom (40 square meters) contains 7 moveable desks and seats for 14 students. The learning space has a flip chart, a wall mounted whiteboard and a LCD screen for showing material and the students' in-class work. The location of the classroom, adjacent to the DMS control center, is intended to allow operators to understand and consolidate the concepts they have learnt during theoretical courses and to analyze the various alarms. Moreover, they can attend an advanced training session on troubleshooting and machine assistance.
The classroom is equipped with three screens, two of which are connected to drilling rigs on-site where participants can see the real-time location of the rig and have a complete overview of the warnings and alarms. The third screen is used during the class to show the rig’s log and educational material. This allows the technicians to carry out troubleshooting analysis and to explain how to take a descision about the assistance or maintenance needed. The classroom also has an on-board DMS work station where operators can simulate situations in which they have to set the DMS, view the screens showing the mechanical and hydraulic performances of the rig and the technological details of the work carried out.
The new FTA facilities provide a high-quality learning space to fit the needs of an increasingly interactive and technology-driven academic environment.
